Mondays are the new Fridays! Come on out tonight. Felons play with Clay Pendergrass and Los Vaqueros Electronicos and San Diego's Delta Spirit. Featured on KEXP's Song of the day: Delta Spirit - Gimme Some Motivation (MP3)
"This San Diego quintet attracted a lot of attention touring with Tokyo Police Club and labelmates Cold War Kids. Blending Americana with Blues and Soul music, Delta Spirit create a rollicking show that will have them headlining in no time. Wary of overproducing, these guys take the energy of their concerts and translate it onto their records, avoiding the pitfall of many bands worth your money live but worthless in the studio. To stay busy and to attract more praise, Delta Spirit blazes through California in July in support of Dr. Dog." http://depts.washington.edu/kexp/blog...

Holy cow that was a great show. Clay and los vaqueros electronicos were great. Clay's voice is quite good. These guys rock, slide guitar and very energetic fun sound. Felons were tight as they can be. I love their new songs, a psych rock element to their older material. They just passed the one year mark as a band and continue to grow with constant playing.
Delta Spirit, man I hope they come back to Dallas. The smallish crowd at the Cavern got a treat last night. The Cavern continues to bring in terrific touring bands. Great sound. Very folk-rock, but hard to pigeon hole. I can hear the voice of Woody Guthrie in Matt Vasquez vocals. I can hear some Tom Waits too. Great thoughtful lyrics too. These guys toured with Dr Dog and are quite impressive.
