DVORAK Husitska Overture
BARTOK Viola Concerto, BB 128
DVORAK Symphony No. 8 in G Major, Op. 88 (PC)
Dvořák’s Husitska Overture is based on Czech songs popular during the Hussite uprising in Bohemia in the early 1400s, while his cheerful Eighth Symphony draws on Bohemian folk melodies. Roberto Díaz, president of the acclaimed Curtis Institute of Music and former principal violist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, performs Bartok’s moving Viola Concerto.
