Description

Lecture with Keith Davis, curator of photography, Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

For generations, Civil War photographs have been revered as touchstones of American history. It is a more recent revelation that they are also central to the larger art of photography: the camera’s ability to not only record the visible world, but also to express personal opinion and judgment. This talk will introduce general audiences to the variety, nuances, and fascinating complications of Civil War photography.

Reservations are required; seating is limited. Please call 817.989.5057 between September 27 and October 22 to register; confirmation will be sent.
