Kamp Katrina is a verite documentary SET in post-Katrina New Orleans. The film follows Ms. Pearl, Upper 9th Ward resident, Native American. One month after Hurricane Katrina Ms. Pearl rides her bicycle to a temporary community space. An organizer urges people to open their homes to the displaced. Ms. Pearl enthusiastically offers her backyard and ten people move into 'Kamp Katrina.'
Ms. Pearl and her husband attempt to provide resources and paid construction jobs for residents of Kamp Katrina. The film also follows Kelley and Doug Baker as their relationship transforms from temporary stability to a variety of abuses. Similarly, Ms. Pearl is confronted with violent acts when the backyard goes awry due to the overwhelming realities of personal problems merging with social problems
