Speak up is an emcee showcase. this is not a typical battle scenario
First round: accapella verse/songs from 4 emcees. Each emcee will rotate spitting their best verse or song. .
Second round: a week prior the contestants were given an instrumental and specific subject matter to write about. The contestants will perform that song for the second round.
Third round: The contest facilitators will pick an instrumental on the spot and give each emcee 45 minutes to write to it. There is no restriction on subject matter and each emcee will get one chance to perform their song. Contestants will also be given the option to freestyle to the track as well.
Special Notes: contestants will be judged on delivery, breath control, personality, stage presence, wordplay, song writing ability, projection, rhyme scheme, and crowd response. The show will be judged by IZK, the last months winner of Beatdown (Picnictyme) and the crowd.
Prize: Emcees will win 500$ in studio time from Juniper sound design in uptown on mckinney and hall. As well as a chance to return next month and stay in the competition. and a free track from picnictyme.
