Cecy and Camilo Ramirez dream of buying land and building a house in Reynosa, Mexico, so their beautiful two-year-old daughter, Loida, can live with them.

David Redmon and Ashley Sabin’s successful documentary Kamp Katrina screened at last year’s Festival, and they return to AFI DALLAS with the story of a struggling young couple who work minimum wage jobs in border towns hundreds of miles away from their family. Unraveling over the course of four years, Intimidad follows Cecy and Camilo’s relationship as it is strained by job politics and the harsh environment of the border town where they work and long to be reunited with their daughter. After a Christmas visit with Loida, the couple questions which choices are most important in life, including whether or not both of them will return to Reynosa to work.

Intimidad explores the complexity of Cecy and Camilo’s lives with a beautiful and natural style, letting the story tell itself. The vulnerability and love unveiled by the Ramirez’s is rare in films today. Intimidad leaves you believing that any dream is possible.

Laurie Anderson Laurie Anderson is indescribably delicious. She's hitting McFarlin tonight with her new show, Homeland, and you can bet it will contain intellectual stimulation and pure unadulterated weirdness in equal measure. An album will follow the Homeland tour in 2009. More info
