(2007, 40 mins)
Directed By: Quisha Freeman, Randall Dottin
The Life and Tragic Death of James Byrd follows the heartbreaking story of James Byrd, an African-American man who was brutally murdered when he was chained to a truck and dragged for three miles by white supremacists in Jasper, Texas nearly ten years ago. The film argues the way Byrd was portrayed by the media by shedding light on Byrd as a father and a friend. It shares personal interviews with Byrd’s family and friends, as well as several civil rights activists from around the world, including Martin Luther King, III, Susan Sarandon, and Dick Gregory.
