Description

World premiere by Lacy Lalene Lynch seeks to combat the negative stigma associated with mental illness and raise public awareness through art.

In the world of art, where there are no boundaries—how do you know where creativity stops and disorder begins? Is there an element of chaos in creation? Is madness often the muse? Such are the questions explored by local playwright, Lacy Lalene Lynch, in the original new play, Reason For Referral. Reason For Referral combines live music, visual art, and theater in an intense, heartfelt, quirky and often humorous look at three young college theater students who are trying to manage their mental issues in order to express themselves through art. In the end, all three individuals must ask themselves if their creativity is a blessing or a curse, as they struggle to make sense of a world that doesn't seem to understand them.
