Description
The Dallas Architecture Forum continues with Scott Johnson, who is designing Museum Tower in Dallas. One of the most highly regarded architects based in California, Scott Johnson is also one of the few architects known to the general public and the design profession alike. A prolific designer of residential, commercial and institutional buildings, a number of his best-known designs are widely published and have become landmarks in their regions. Among them are the Opus One and Byron wineries, San Francisco’s Rincon Center and the MGM Tower in Los Angeles.
Mr. Johnson is an alum of Stanford University, the University of California at Berkeley and the Harvard Design School. Following his university years, he worked at The Architects Collaborative, Skidmore Owings & Merrill and the office of Philip Johnson before returning to the West Coast where he founded with his partner William Fain, Johnson Fain, a Los Angeles based international architecture, planning and interior design firm.
He is active in the arts community and is a professor at the University of Southern California School of Architecture where he has been the Director of the Masters Programs. He frequently writes and lectures on design and is the author of the recent book, "The Big Idea: Criticality and Practice in Contemporary Architecture", published by Balcony Press. He has a new book coming out in 2008 on the design of skyscrapers and he is currently designing tall buildings in Asia and the US.
Dallas Architecture Forum members are admitted for free.

GWAR / Kingdom of Sorrow / Toxic Holocaust Only lead singer Oderus Urungus (aka Dave Brockie) has stuck around since GWAR's start 23 years ago, but the huge costumes, raunchy and obscene lyrics, and fluids spraying into the audience are sure to be on full display as the metal band makes its return to Dallas.
