Everything on Tap
April 19, 2008
The Rhythm Junkies - a nonprofit tap dance company based in North Texas is just as its name implies. The seven member company is hooked on rhythm and addicted to TAP! The Rhythm Junkies company mission is to serve as a community resource to create, promote, and produce works of tap dance and to preserve historic works of tap dance. The group offered its first stage appearance at the 2001 National Tap Dance Day Celebration in Dallas.
Company members include professional dancers and teachers from throughout the metroplex. These obsessive-percussive dancers get their weekly "fixes" of tap dance during rehearsals where they create new works and perfect their repertory materials. Company members are Jo Braley, Debra Bray, Gina Carricor, Ruthy Davis, Laura Price, Karen Osborn Stanford, and Terry Wolter. The Rhythm Junkies are sponsored by Dance Etc. and Janie Christy Dance.
