On Sunday, April 20th, Dallas will be one of eight U.S. cities simultaneously playing host to “America’s largest Earth Day celebration.” Green Apple Festival and Earth Day Network, presented by Chase and sponsored by the City of Dallas’ Green Dallas Initiative, will bring a day of music, interactive exhibits and awareness to Fair Park to celebrate Earth Day 2008. The event is part of a massive national undertaking - eight festivals held simultaneously in landmark parks in Washington DC, New York City, Chicago, Miami, Denver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Dallas, hence the proud proclamation that this will be "America's largest Earth Day celebration.
Mayor Pro Tem Dr. Elba Garcia, Elaine Agather, Chairman Dallas, Area Head of South Region JPMorgan Bank, John Brecher, North Texas Auto Association will be speaking. Andy Chandler, Jack FM Dallas, will emcee the event.
Los Lonely Boys, Martin Sexton, Junior Brown, Cas Haley, The Steps, and George Stanford will perform.
There will be several educational and interactive exhibits and displays from many business and organizations: Earth Day Network, JPMorgan Chase, IBM, FedEx, Planet Green, Sierra Club, Dallas Observer, KJKK, Green Dallas (City of Dallas), Supreme Master TV, Horizon, Soy Joy, Starbucks, Interfaith, Environmental Alliance, DFW Urban Ecovillage, Environmental Awareness Society/Wildlife Society, Planet Naturals, Green Earth Markets, Blade Your Ride, Head Count and many more.
Admission is free but parking is $8.
