The Appeal of Romantic Art and Poetry

Cosponsored by the Dallas Institute and the Dallas Museum of Art. Admission per evening: Members $25, Nonmembers $35, Teachers $10. Two-evening package: Members $45, Nonmembers $65, Teachers $15.
Explore Romantic art and poetry and their powerful influence on contemporary culture through the poems of William Wordsworth and the paintings of J.M.W.Turner. In conjunction with the Dallas Museum of Art's J.M.W. Turner exhibition (February 10-May 18), Dr. Willard Spiegelman, SMU Professor of English, will team up first with Dr. Dorothy Kosinski, curator of the Turner exhibition, and then with Prof. Mary Vernon, SMU Professor of Drawing and Painting, to present the art and poetry of the Romantics -- focusing on Turner and Wordsworth -- and their integral relationship to each other.
