The Romantic paintings of J.M.W. Turner and the poems of William Wordsworth still exert their powerful influence on our contemporary culture. In conjunction with the J.M.W. Turner exhibition (on view at DMA through May 18), The Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture and the Dallas Museum of Art announce its upcoming program on April 30, entitled “Of Aspect More Sublime: The Appeal of Romantic Art and Poetry.” The program will present the art and poetry of the Romantics, focusing on Turner and Wordsworth, and their integral relationship to each other.
The April 30 program features Dr. Willard Spiegelman, Hughes Professor of English at SMU, and Prof. Mary Vernon, Professor of Drawing and Painting at SMU.
The program will be held at The Dallas Institute on 2719 Routh Street, Dallas 75201. A cocktail reception is scheduled at 6 p.m., and the program is at 7-8:30 p.m. Admission is $25 for Members; $35 for Nonmembers; $10 for Teachers. To enroll, call (214) 871-2440, or reply online.
