I'll be speaking at this rally, along with other people showing support for human rights in Burma

I know it's hot, but remember this: Why you should go:

In Burma, as you are reading this, members of the student activist group "Generation Wave" are spraying red paint around Rangoon to commemorate those killed in the 8888 Uprising. Their "Red Campaign" is meant to urge young people across Burma to remember the blood of students, monks, and others spilled in the brutal crackdown of 1988, to remember their history.

These activists are risking their lives everyday, as the government fills the streets with both armed soldiers and plainclothes police officers in fear of demonstrations. Observers say that the anger and frustration in Burma's cities is palpable; monks, students and workers are preparing for another uprising.

On Friday, August 8, join in the Dallas vigil and march for Burma. Stand in solidarity with the Burmese. Help raise media attention to Burma and the important issue of China and the Olympics. Raise your voices together with supporters of Burmese human rights and democracy around the world.

If you occasionally have the hankering for unbridled screaming set to a beat, this Atlanta quintet is your band. Basically, they're the band all the little screamo kids wish they were. Beware: the teenagers own Deep Ellum tonight. More info
