Description
Several downtown McKinney businesses specializing in the arts have collaborated to offer their specialty art or craft for a new Summer Art Camp. The weeklong camp will teach pottery making, printmaking, jewelry design, glass fusing, sewing, quilting and ceramics painting to children and adults.
All classes are taught by the artists at their shops on or near the Historic Square. Students will create several items during their weeklong session and some items they make can be combined with their other creations to show the interplay of varying mediums and their applications. Fused glass beads might be incorporated into jewelry; ceramic projects and fabric prints could be used in sewn projects. Students will be grouped by age; sessions are limited to 6 people. One adult session will be offered, with a ‘fine art’ kit charge for adults if sterling and other high-quality materials are desired.
Summer Art Camp is from 9am - 4pm for 5 days. Campers ages 7 and up (grouped by age) will bring a sack lunch and beverage; drinks and snacks will be provided at mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Cost of the weeklong camp is $300 which includes tuition and all supplies.
Session 1 is July 7 – 11; Session 2 is July 21 – 25; Session 3 is August 11 - 15.
