Description
Continuing the 2007-2008 Spotlight Series, one of the most popular modern dance companies in the country, Pilobolus, will take the stage in the Hill Performance Hall on Saturday, February 9th at 8:00 pm.
Seen recently during the Academy Awards ceremony and in television commercials for the Hyundai Santa Fe, Pilobolus is sometimes referred to as the dance world’s equivalent of a summer movie blockbuster. This unique company is known for its collaborative choreographic process and a unique weight-sharing approach to partnering that give it a non-traditional but powerful set of skills with which to make dances. The group is acclaimed for its startling mix of humor and invention and Pilobolus continues to be a mostly self-sufficient organization, its members choreographing, dancing, managing, and publicizing their own programs.
Pilobolus is recognized as a major American dance company of international influence. It has not, however, forsaken its original impetus. The company remains a deeply collaborative effort with an executive director, three artistic directors and seven dancers contributing to one of the most popular and varied repertoires in the field. Its many decades of consistent artistic activity now stand as a testament to the group's remarkable fruitfulness and longevity.
The performance is part of the 2007-2008 Season of Eisemann Center Presents’ Hill Performance Hall Spotlight Series. Tickets range are available for purchase online at www.eisemanncenter.com or by calling the Eisemann Center Ticket Office at 972-744-4650. Group discounts are available for 10 or more persons.
The Eisemann Educates program will present a Master Class with the Pilobolus company on Friday, February 8th at 7:00 pm in the Eisemann Center’s Countrywide Theatre, for a limited number of advanced dancers only. Class admission is $20 and reservations must be made in advance at the Eisemann Center Ticket Office online at www.eisemanncenter.com or by phone 972-744-4650. Observers will be welcome at the Master Class for a $5 fee payable at the door by cash or check.
