Dr. Brian Huff, who is in the Industrial & Manufacturing Systems Department and a leader in the interdisciplinary Autonomous Vehicles Laboratory, will discuss industry and government desires to use unmanned ground, air, surface and underwater vehicles as safe, low-cost, long-endurance platforms. Congress wants one-third of the operational deep strike aircraft of the armed forces to be unmanned by 2010 and one third of the operational ground combat vehicles of the armed forces to be unmanned by 2015. Dr. Huff will discuss whether this is possible and what are the opportunities and obstacles in deploying autonomous vehicles. Make reservations at this link. Admission is free for members and first-time guests. Others pay $5. Contact Roger Tuttle at (817) 272-3682 or tuttle@uta.edu for more information.
