A brief topping out dedication will recognize Linbeck Construction's installation of steel at the highest point of the new facility, which is located in the Museum's entrance and "urban lantern." The dedication will take place in the plaza between the Museum of Science and History's construction site and the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame and will feature songs by Fort Worth's Kids Who Care.
Following the brief dedication, a crane will hoist the highest piece of steel, a painted beam that's expected to bear the signatures of hundreds of Museum supporters. The general public is invited to sign the beam in the plaza outside the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame on Wednesday, July 9 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and again from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. immediately preceding the topping out dedication on Thursday, July 10.
The Museum's topping out will include a peach tree, a nod to the fact that one of the courtyard spaces in the Legorreta+Legorreta-designed facility will feature a peach tree orchard. After the event, everyone in attendance will be treated to peach-flavored frozen custard and will be invited to guided construction tours around the perimeter of the construction site at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. (The Museum will offer additional tours on Friday at noon and 2 p.m. and again on Saturday at 10 a.m. and noon.)
