Q Cinema Gay & Lesbian Film Festival - The Full Monty: The Stage Musical
June 5, 2008
Based on the 1997 British film, The Full Monty musical –about six unemployed Buffalo steelworkers who decide to present a strip act at a local club after seeing their wives' enthusiasm for a touring company of professionals -- debuted on Broadway in 2000 to great critical acclaim. With a book by Terrence McNally (The Ritz, Love! Valour! Compassion!, Kiss of the Spider Woman and Master Class) and score by David Yazbek (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), the show was poised to sweep the Tonys if not for a little musical called The Producers. Nonetheless, it was touring hit before being made available to regional theater companies. In our effort to partner with arts organizations throughout the Metroplex, we’re thrilled to present the cast of Onstage in Bedford’s production of the show. This will be a staged reading with no costumes or sets but it will include all of the beautiful musical numbers that made this a multiple Tony nominee.
