Lecture: Brad Cloepfil
June 6, 2008
Brad Cloepfil, architect of the recently renovated and expanded Booker T. Washington High School for the Visual and Performing Arts, will discuss that project, along with other work by his firm, Allied Works Architecture. In the Horchow Auditorium, no reservations necessary. The lecture is jointly presented by The Advisory Board of the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, the Dallas Museum of Art, and the Dallas Architecture Forum.
With degrees from the University of Oregon and the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Cloepfil is one of the leading American architects in practice today.
Cloepfil's body of work is informed by the land, by the history of place, and by his formal training. His work cuts a clear line through much of the rhetoric surrounding the practice today. His approach to design combines an intensive focus on the specific character of each project with an understanding of the profoundly affecting possibilities of building.
As Principal and Lead Designer, Cloepfil maintains a close involvement in the design and execution of every project at Allied Works. He also continues to lecture and teach, and has served on international awards panels and competition juries.
