Mike Orren says:
Tickets were distributed by lottery and only one in eight got one. The only way to get in now is to give a nice donation to our friends at KERA:

This "procedure" stinks IMO.
Apparently this is SOP for Antiques Roadshow. Our entire family used to watch this program every week until the year we planned our vacations around the Roadshow being "in town".
Short story: Ultimately none of us were able to get tickets without selecting the "huge donation" option...but we weren't notified we weren't getting general admission tickets until our vacation plans had already been made to coincide with the show's dates.
End of short story: We no longer watch the program.

Wow...looks like KERA's pretty proud of themselves...hopefully whatever "treasure" the donater brings in is worth it, otherwise after chucking out 400 smackeroos, it would be a bummer to have someone tell you your family heirloom is a hunk of junk...
I don't watch it anymore either, but if I did I'd watch the the British version instead

I've a feeling that getting the value locally from a professional would be much cheaper anyway, but then you wouldn't get to "be on TV" that way. Guess you could always take a friend along to tape the local transaction?

That is a silly reason not to watch the show.

You're remark is a silly comment.
Whatever the reasons we don't watch the show, jbd, the beginning of our distaste of the program began with realizing how little the producers are concerned about any of the viewers/fans. The more we learned about them, the less we wanted to be a part of their viewing group....so we don't watch. What the hell is so silly about that? Nothing!
