The Dallas Independent School District, the Greater Dallas Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, area school districts and community organizations, will give away prom dresses. Attendees can start signing in at the event, at 7 a.m. The mission of the event is to encourage, promote and reward safe and healthy choices made by 11th and 12th grade female students, who thrive in adverse conditions within our community. The event helps students financially to obtain dresses for the prom and also includes an educational component and an alcohol-free pledge. If you know of a young lady in the 11th or 12th grade who will benefit from this event, please encourage them to register with their local school counselor by Friday, Feb. 15. For further information concerning the event you may contact Velisha L. Mitchell at (972) 925-8829 or Ileana C. Fridia at 972-925-3922.
