Description
The Greenville Avenue St Patrick's Day Parade has over a 25 year tradition in Dallas. The parade is organized by the Greenville Avenue Area Business Association and has become a beloved community event that attracts thousands of spectators and participants each year.
The parade was started in 1979 by a group of lower Greenville merchants and restaurant's, led by Tom Stephenson. Unorganized as they were, they loosely created the very first St Patrick's Day block party and festival.
Over the next several years the parade continued to evolve. The City of Dallas has become one of the official sponsors of the event. Several entries became real crowd favorites over the years, including the "Patty O'Furniture Psycho Killer Drill Team" with their precision movements and hilarious routines and the Bula Boys with their irreverent portrayals of current events.
So, whether it is grandmother's tap dancing or leprechauns on Harleys you can be sure this parade offers something for everyone's taste.
The parade is traditionally held the Saturday preceding St. Patrick's Day at 11:00 am.

Nice catch, Whitney. In this case it was done for a very specific reason. Each event is it's own little piece of data in the larger database. What typically would have been done for this annual event was a new entry would be created for this year. But due to admin error, rising tides, global warning, El Nino, etc..., we just changed the date on last year's event and updated.
Chris' comment was brilliant, but referred to dates, times and goings-on from last year, so would have been confusing, so we zapped it. Ditto Avi's. Our internal admin makes it hard to find a comment that old, so the direct link was the way to go.
Little known bonus fact: 22,833 (as of now) comments since launch. I don't have a tally, but I'd wager we've removed less than fifty- certainly less than 75. And the majority of those were, indeed, staff.

Woeful lack of details on parade for those who haven't gone. You refer to the "official site", but nowhere, at least where I could see is there any detailed information, other than it starts at 11 AM.
