Mahogany Dance Theatre: “Amazing Grace”
May 3, 2008
Amazing Grace is empowering our children to take ownership of their history, to connect with previous generations, to create a respectful dialogue about the past - and we want to share that experience.
For more than 30 years, the nonprofit Mahogany Dance Theatre of Texas and its dancers have served communities as cultural storytellers, making the African-American experience accessible to all through the language of movement. With Amazing Grace, which explores the struggles and triumphs within the Civil Rights movement, Dr. Vann Gilbert, Founder and Artistic Director, has introduced the Center's children to soul-stirring spirituals and gospel repertories.
