Description
A first-time workshop offering, study with one of America's foremost portrait painters as you learn about the subtleties and nuisances of painting from photographs. You will learn the perils and pitfalls of painting portraits from photos and how to paint what you see. There will also be still-life set-ups for those who prefer not to work from a photo. You will learn about the distortion of the camera, composition, form and how to compensate for the exaggeration of values in the photograph. Prior painting from life is helpful, but not necessary. Please bring several photographs as well as 8"x10" black and white enlargements of the photographs from which you want to work. A supply list will be furnished upon registration. Please bring a lunch.
