Description
The evening begins in the Chautauqua Pavilion with Laurence Yadon, author with Dan Anderson of 200 Texas Outlaws and Lawmen: 1835-1935. Yadon discusses some of the infamous Texas’ law breakers included in his literally “hot of the presses” reference book. He will concentrate on the profiles of such notorious Texas figures as Sam Bass, Belle Starr and others.
Yadon and Anderson, also authors of 100 Oklahoma Outlaws, Gangsters, and Lawmen: 1839-1939, have written a reference book for anyone interested in Texas’ wild and untamed history. Outlaws chosen for inclusion in 200 Texas Outlaws and Lawmen were based on whether the individual or gang were involved in at least two gunfights or robberies. The book profiles not only outlaws and lawmen but a few Texas feudalists, Rio Grande border warriors and Indian agitators.
A staged gun fight on Dallas Heritage Village’s 1901 Main Street will follow Yadon’s lecture. Attendees are invited to meet the author and the gun fighters at the Alamo Saloon for a book signing and reception after the unlawful re-enactment.
Admission for the entire evening is $5, free for Dallas Heritage Village members. The Chautauqua Lecture Series event is on Thursday, May 15 at 7 p.m. beginning in Dallas Heritage Village’s in the Chautauqua Pavilion, 1515 South Harwood. A gun fight on the Village’s 1901 Main Street will follow the lecture. Reception and book signing will be held in the Alamo Saloon. 200 Texas Outlaws and Lawmen: 1835-1935 will be available for $16.95. To RSVP, call 214-413-3674.

Saturday Tastings in the Wine and Beer Department Little Joey just LOVES the Saturday wine tastings at Central Market - he particularly likes the blind tastings, when he can sneak a snort while Mommie's not looking. (Great nose!) More info
