Description

An investigation of drawing mediums and techniques inspired by the Great Masters of landscape, seascape, abstract, floral, interior, portraiture and still life drawing. Produce a body of work in the mediums of graphite pencil, colored pencil, hard and soft pastel, pastel pencils, conte, ink and mixed media combinations. In the time-honored method of The Masters, you begin via a simple gridded sketch.... so even complete beginners emerge with frameable work each afternoon! Daily lecture, demo of technique, 1 on 1 guidance, positive group critique and video-supported instruction in an encouraging atmosphere. Consider signing up for the companion painting course immediately before.

Akira Sato Jazz trumpeter Akira Sato, by way of Tokyo, Japan and Vancouver, Canada, is an SMU faculty member and director of The Meadow Jazz Orchestra at SMU. He is also an adjunct faculty member at UNT where he teaches jazz arranging. Sato is also heading into the studio soon with other area musicians and playing at the Scat Jazz Lounge tonight. With all that he's up to, the least you could do is order a Scotch on the rocks and chill to some tunes. (Photo by flickr user arteunporro. More info
