Description
“In 1980, Beauty in the Bricks documented the lives of four African American teenage girls who were intimate friends growing up in a Dallas housing project known as “the Bricks.” It captured their hopes and dreams while presenting a realistic and positive portrait of their lives. Fifteen years later, Beauty Leaves the Bricks picks up with these same four young women and the advisor who had a lasting impact on their lives. It shows where they have been, where they are today, and how their life experiences have changed them.” Quoted from http://mediaprojects.org.

Akira Sato Jazz trumpeter Akira Sato, by way of Tokyo, Japan and Vancouver, Canada, is an SMU faculty member and director of The Meadow Jazz Orchestra at SMU. He is also an adjunct faculty member at UNT where he teaches jazz arranging. Sato is also heading into the studio soon with other area musicians and playing at the Scat Jazz Lounge tonight. With all that he's up to, the least you could do is order a Scotch on the rocks and chill to some tunes. (Photo by flickr user arteunporro. More info
