Description

This festival features world-class performers in the beautiful setting of White Rock Lake. This year, the Bath House Music Fest features the best Jazz and World Music ensembles in town, plus a New Orleans Funky brass band and midnight ride through Dallas' underground madness.

• 7:00 p.m. - Reception. Audience warm ups, light refreshments, and sundown watching on the veranda.
• 8:00 p.m. - Greg Waits Quartet - featuring international touring and recording trombonist, Greg Waits, along with saxophonist, Chris McQuire, and a great rhythm section including Ivan Kaufman on bass and Gary Granger on drums. The band sizzles and burns.

  Inner-City All-Stars – The performers of this lively band may live in Denton, but they certainly got that Crescent City mojo working with a palpable Second Line groove that starts at the levee and works its way through heart-thumping burners by James Brown, Sly Stone, and funky versions of whatever else comes out of the pot. The charismatic “seventh son of a seventh son,” Calvin Sexton, leads the band.

  With the wonderfully animated music of these bands, at some point, chairs become strictly optional.

• Midnight - Aaron Gonzalez calls his midnight madness show: "Age of Disinformation," taking a number of noisier sonic resources and attempting to cram them into the two rather small holes in the sides of your head at once. This performance includes a large ensemble with several musical notables. The meditation for this nether evening is "an improvisation on the current state of psychological and spiritual breakdown as it relates to viral ecosystems of economies of information." There is a certain Wall of Sound element to this show, as you might imagine. Designated drivers may be required to wait outside, away from the building. Everyone else is asked to find a nice place to sit or lie down, turn off your mind, relax, and float down stream.

  Tickets: $5 suggested donation

• 7:00 p.m. - Reception. Audience warm ups, light refreshments, and sundown watching on the veranda.
• 8:00 p.m. - Bath House and Dallas legend, Jamal Mohamed, returns with World Music powerhouse, Brahmah. This band features Mohamed on Middle Eastern percussion, Poovalur Sriji on Asian percussion, Fred Hamilton on guitar, and Ed Smith on vibes. Playing some of the most moving and profound music that Dallas has to offer, Brahmah promises spiritual highs on mystic sound waves against the Bath House shore.

  There is simply no better way to conclude this or any other music festival than with the always sweet and full-flavored vibes of this extraordinary band.
