Held annually on Memorial Day Weekend, the National Polka Festival® offers an abundance of activities to be enjoyed by the entire family in a small city atmosphere. Learn of our Czechoslovakian traditions, religious customs, folk dances, tastes, sights and sounds Friday through Sunday, May 23-25, 2008. You will be joined by more than 50,000 other visitors and Ennisites while enjoying a "little bit of old Czechoslovakia" on the streets of Historic downtown Ennis and in our Three spacious, air-conditioned Czech Halls. Join us...Come "Czech" out Ennis. At 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning the many entries of floats, bands and colorful costumes will kick-off the downtown festivities for the 42nd annual National Polka Festival in Ennis. The parade traditionally includes something for visitors of all ages. Enjoy the music of our polka bands riding on decorated floats or the sounds of precision marching bands. The Shriners make their annual appearance as well as celebrities and public officials, motorcycles and horseback riders, clowns, kids, and seniors! This giant parade that twists through Historic downtown Ennis is sure to please and is a great way to kick off this fun-filled weekend. You don't want to miss it! Your whole family can enjoy a day of celebrating the Czech culture including polka dancing, Czech food, fun and 15 sensational LIVE Polka bands including Grammy Award winning Brave Combo at the Three air-conditioned Czech auditoriums.
