7th Annual El Dia de los Muertos Festival

This free bilingual family event is open to the public and features activities and education for all ages.
Arts Fifth Avenue and neighbors will offer activities including Papel Picado (paper cutting), paper flower making, Calaveras (skull) Drawing and Decorating, and a special workshop in Tamale Making 101: Oaxacan Style with Arts Fifth Avenue founder, Gracey Tune.
A community Ofrenda (alter) will be constructed and participants are invited to add something in memory of a lost loved one. Films on the origin and traditions of El Dia de los Muertos, Music and Dance Performances, Bilingual Storytelling and Poetry Readings, and sharing of traditional foods are all part of the events offerings. Everyone is encouraged to bring the favorite dish of a departed loved one to add to the celebration.
