The MWE welcomes the contemporary percussion ensemble NEXUS, dubbed “the high priests of the percussion world” by The New York Times, for the world premiere of internationally renowned composer Eric Ewazen’s Concerto for Percussion and Wind Ensemble, composed on commission for the MWE, NEXUS and Jack Delaney. The program also will include the late Warren Benson’s Danzon-memory, written on commission for Jack Delaney and recorded by the MWE on the Gasparo label, and Bradley Bodine’s Concerto for Marimba and Wind Orchestra with marimba soloist and Meadows faculty member Drew Lang. This concert “previews” the MWE’s performance for the International Conference of the Percussive Arts Society in Austin, Texas on Thursday, November 6, 2008.
