, 2008
A royal evening is just around the corner for many Dallas-area couples, as the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Northeast Texas Chapter plans its inaugural Royal Winter Ball. The upcoming fall event will feature world renowned chef Darren McGrady, who will share recipes and kitchen secrets from his time as chef with the Buckingham Palace and Princess Diana.
The gala is scheduled for November 8, 2008 at The Adolphus Hotel. Event co-chairs Jessica and Dan Slaven and Jackie and Michael Kelley say the inaugural black-tie gala hopes to raise more than $250,000. All proceeds will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The Foundation’s Northeast Texas Chapter serves the Greater Dallas County area.
McGrady will plan the evening menu and share remembrances from his time with England’s royal family. He spent more than 11 years as a royal chef to Buckingham Palace, where he cooked for the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and their guests. McGrady later moved to Kensington Palace as private chef to Princess Diana. He now works as a private chef and event planner in Dallas. He recently released his first book, Eating Royally: Recipes and Remembrances from a Palace Kitchen.
