The Dallas Institute Festival of Ideas: Focus Forum on Race, Class and the Law

In four separate Arts District venues, each guest speaker will join his or her Festival team – Dallas’ best panelists and moderator listed on the previous page – for a “Focus Forum.” The guest speaker will first make a brief presentation on the future of his or her area and then will engage with panelists for discussion, moderated by an expert facilitator. In the latter third of the session, the facilitator will open up the exchange to nclude the audience.

“Race, Class, and the Law”: Maya Wiley, with Kim Askew and Marcos Ronquillo, moderated by Randy Gordon

Maya Wiley is Founder and Director of the Center for Social Inclusion, a national policy advocacy intermediary organization which works to dismantle structural racism. A civil rights attorney and policy advocate, she has litigated, lobbied the US Congress, and developed programs to transform structural racism in the US and South Africa.

Kim Askew is a Partner with K&L Gates law firm. She is Immediate Past Chair of the Section of Litigation of the ABA, the first lawyer of color to have held the chair in this national position.

Marcos Ronquillo is Managing Partner with Godwin Ronquillo law firm. He is former President of the Dallas Mexican ABA and former Chairman of the Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Randy Gordon is a Partner with Gardere law firm. A Fellow of the Dallas Institute and former Board member, he holds the LL.M. degree from Columbia and a Ph.D. from the University of Kansas.

This is a recent topic and a hot one too, and I can only say, it is a global complex situation we are now having to finally address when it come to the Masses, as 21st Century folks...my great grandparents came to the U.S.A in 1889 and by 1908, they were Amercains too. A.T, Geneologist Observer.
