10th Annual American Indian Pow Wow
November 8, 2008
The program is co-sponsored by Richland College and the DISD American Indian Education Program. This cultural celebration raises scholarship money for DISD Native American students and honors American Indian veterans. The 2008 Indian princess will be crowned at the event.
The 2008 Pow Wow is dedicated to the late Mary Iron Eyes Israel, beloved Richland College art professor, an advocate for the arts, and member of the American Indian community. With Richland students, Mary Iron Eyes started the All Nations Indian Club which hosted the first pow wow at Richland in the early 1990s. Information will be given to interested students about the Mary Iron Eyes Israel Scholarship.
