Lone Star Film Festival - Nirvana
November 16, 2008
Run time: 93 min. | Russia
Tired of her life in Moscow, Alisa moves to St. Petersburg where she takes a room with junkie flat-mates Vel and her boyfriend Valera the Dead Man. After their rocky beginning, the women form a friendship that eventually takes them into the St. Petersburg underworld when Dead Man is abducted because he can't pay his debts. Wildly elaborate costumes and over the top make-up adorn everyone from the extras to the stars in this highly stylized, world of brilliant exteriors masking characters in a spiritual void.
