On November 20th, Chiapas supporters will gather at the Ritz Carlton Dallas for the group's third annual gala. The keynote speaker will be Pultizer Prize winning author, Sonia Nazario. Ms. Nazario will share the story of her book "Enrique's Journey" http://www.enriquesjourney.com/author.html with the audience. The book tells the story of a 12-year-old boy who traveled thousands of miles via foot and train hopping from Honduras to the U.S. trying to find his mother who had come here to find work. Ms. Nazario states the importance of economic opportunity and how microfinance could have provided for his mother, keeping her in Honduras. A powerful story of poverty that now has become suggested reading for many high schools and Universities around the U.S.

Honduras being the theme of the evening, The Chiapas Project's award "For Advancement of Global Initiatives" will be given to Mr. Bill Bancroft and The Church of the Incarnation for their work in Honduras. The 2007 award was given to Ms. Patricia Patterson, Founder, World Affairs Council of Dallas-Ft. Worth.

Co-Chairs, Alison Solomon and Rebecca Hallam promise more surprises for the guests including, "back by popular demand", the girls from Hockaday School.
