Opening Reception - monochrome / Petite / Glenn Downing

500X is pleased to present work by new members Matt Clark and Sean Ibanez in monochrome.

Matt Clark's work organizes materials into forms that relate to transit, specifically human powered modes of travel. Clark is interested in material and its intrinsic color, the formulation of form and the discovery of contradictions through unexpected pairings of image and material.

Ibanez' work revolves around the inherent flexibility and strength of paper and fabric and how to manipulate those materials into pockets of space and light. Through the exploration of materials and process he seeks simple beauty in his work.

Project Room: Petite Petite is a collaboration between Jessica Cook and Natalie Macellaio that features drawings, photographs and an installation that juxtapose sweet bakery treats with skin diagrams.

Second Floor: Glenn Downing Glenn Downing's large-scale drawings will be on view on the Second Floor.
