One of the most complex issues facing teaching professionals is maintaining the distinctly human nature of the classroom in the midst of a culture that increasingly values what Raymond Callahan called the “cult of efficiency”—common practices of the business culture that have come to dominate education today. Through readings and discussions, we will consider the impact, both positive and negative, of using business models to organize and validate learning. In afternoon workshops, thoughtful conversations among teachers from like disciplines will consider the use of business models in both their subjects and their teaching.
Tuition: Member Teachers $25; Nonmember teachers $35.
Tuition includes breakfast, lunch, and readings.
