Meadows Symphony Orchestra - Water
October 19, 2008
, 2008
Guest conductor Nicolás Pasquet, from the Liszt Hochschule in Weimar, Germany, leads the Meadows Symphony in a program featuring Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture, inspired by the seabirds, waves and wind of Fingal’s Cave off the coast of Scotland, along with Debussy’s groundbreaking La Mer, which brilliantly captures the color, light and mood of the ocean. Also included are Debussy’s Premiere Rhapsody and Weber’s Concertino for Clarinet and Orchestra, both featuring Meadows faculty member and Dallas Symphony performer Paul Garner as guest soloist, and Czech composer Bedrich Smetana’s The Moldau, a tribute to the life and folklore of the Moldau River of his homeland.
