The Granada says it's the 80's line-up - which leads me to wonder if this includes the two drummers, the whacked-out go-go dancer and those sex change and autopsy films on the back screen? Fingers crossed, people!

ScoDo, tell your friends at the Granada that they should be advertising, and maybe there'll be one.
(Sorry for the commercial, but I am in budget meetings, so such things are on my mind.)

From what I have been reading, Yes! Teresa, has been playing drums along side her brother King. Also the go-go dancer has made a few appearances along the east cost!
I can't wait for this show.

I got my skate board stuck at this event many years ago, then again a Butt Hole Surfer wont be found in the Virgin Islands, no they are only found at Butt Hole beach, out by Galveston Bay, That is where the homeless kids from Austin now hang, and sand Castile their life on the beach, good to have you old Butt Holes back...A.T,.... BEACH BUM from the 1980s.

I suppose I'll call if I have to, but does anyone know when they (or shows at Granada in general) will be going on? 8 seems early as hell, I assume that's just doors?

yah 8 is doors but the shows here do tend to run on the early side; sometimes the opener does, in fact, start right after 8, especially with three bands like this

Uhh, site says doors at 7, show starts at 8.
Entirely expect the other couple of bands to open. Would be nice if someone who actually knows wtf is going on would chime in, though.

I'm ashamed to say that was my first time at the Granada.
However, I regret to report I couldn't understand a damn thing that was said. Granted, I was in the front...but even when I grabbed a beer at the rear bar I had no idea what was going on with vocals. So, I had no choice but to join what mosh pit there was.
Pretty decent time down there, but again...no clue what was actually being communicated. Hopefully it was just the roadies and not the venue, because if I'm that disappointed again I'll never go back.

Hands down.. The best show this year! Did anyone catch Gibby at vickery park spinning records after the show? I realized my first surfer show was 20 years ago. I really couldn't tell the difference between then and now except for the mellow version of Hey!

Doyle..my best bet is that the Grenada is not the best venue for a group like the Butthole Surfers. I would still like to see them perform at the Band Shell in Fair park, sand the rain, cops in riot gear and the tear gas after the show that never happened.

Scott - you should be ashamed! Granada is a Dallas institution (I think in every format of entertainment venue it's been).
I did not go to this concert, but I think I'd have to believe it had to do with this particular concert, because every other time I've been there it's been great - as evidenced by the myriads of awards it's received over the last couple of years.

Meh, I'm not writing it off until I see at least another show. Definitely like the place. And I'm relatively sure I don't fail at hearing as I've been to many a concert without issue.

Couldn't hear a damn thing of what was going on. Maybe my ears are broken, but it pretty much sounded like a wall of noise.
Not that I'm complaining, mind you. Great show, and a pretty good pit.

"I realized my first surfer show was 20 years ago."
Can you believe it's been 20 years?! My first Surfers show was at Theatre Gallery, and being the short-arse that I am, I didn't catch much of the onstage revelry - so I had to content myself with the autopsy and sex change films in the background, and occasional glimpses of Gibby with his megaphone. But you knew last night was going to be magical when they kicked the evening off with '22 Going On 23.' Now that's some sweetness! Anybody grab the rest of the setlist?
Outside in front of the venue, it was like a big reunion as well, with people running into friends they hadn't seen in years, huddling around, trying to stay warm. Happy to note that the hipster d-bags stayed well away from this one, too. Bless...

Travis - Yeah the riot po-po and tear gas made for a lot of fun, people were spreading like cockroaches. Butt two days later they made up for it by playing at a water park in Albuquerque, NM

One dude literally did after the show...in Lambeau Leap fashion. Roadie who was clearing the stage yelled to a bouncer and pointed at the hustling scofflaw, but I didn't see whether he eventually got taken down.

Oh, another interesting thing was this chick who randomly passed out and bonked her head on the souvenir table before hitting the floor. Literally just like a narcoleptic person you see in movies...no idea whether that explains her incident, but it was quite odd.
She came to and some dudes got her back on her feet, but she just sat down on the floor again. Eventually they helped her out the door and I didn't see her the rest of the night - relatively concerned those guys weren't with her, but hopefully so and she's OK.

I saw her conk out, too - right in front of us. And didn't she actually break the merch table? Poor thing'll definitely be nursing a bad-ass bump on her head today, bless her heart. I hope she's feeling better.

There were definitely some herb-loving peeps near the stage at the beginning.
Don't recall any female nudity, then again I spent majority of the show crashing into other people...the one shirtless dude moshing is about it. Some chick kept getting pissy because she was dumb enough to stand next to the pit and whine whenever someone came crashing towards her. Luckily her heavy-set b/f is pragmatic and told her to stfu as they moved.
If the bouncer monitoring the pit is reading, you're a good man. I'm not saying this because I saw you literally manhandle another person...kept the pit fun and void of douchebaggery.
