Dr. Donna Mayer-Martin, Associate Professor and Chair of Music History, Meadows School of the Arts, SMU Connections between Spanish and French composers and musical styles at the beginning of the 20th century were significant. Debussy and Ravel wrote works for the piano influenced by Spanish rhythms and dances; most of their piano works were premiered in Paris by the Spanish virtuoso, Ricardo Vinès. Dr. Mayer-Martin is a scholar and popular lecturer on music in France, with special interest in medieval music in France, and music in Paris at the turn of the 20th century. Her lecture will be illustrated by Meadows student performances of works by Debussy, de Falla and Ravel. Dr. Bob Smith Auditorium
