Christianity, Idolatry and the Question of Figural Painting in Hebrew Illuminated Manuscripts. Dr. Katrin Kogman-Appel, Professor of Art History, Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Israel.

Presented by the Division of Art History at SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts, the Comini Lecture Series in Art History is named in honor of Alessandra Comini, University Distinguished Professor of Art History Emerita, whose 30-year legacy of vital scholarship and lecturing at SMU has set the standard for compelling and insightful programs.

This series features scholars and museum professionals presenting unique perspectives on works in the Meadows Museum and other area collections, as well as topics that are varied in period, culture and place. More information on these lectures is available by calling the Division of Art History at 214.768.2698. NOTE: These programs are free, but tickets are required. Please contact the Meadows School of the Arts Ticket Office at 214.768.2787 to obtain tickets. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. All lectures will take place in the Dr. Bob Smith Auditorium.
