Opera Free for All Series
October 31, 2008
Presented six times a year, this Brown Bag Series features popular scenes from opera, operetta and musical theatre. The October 31 Halloween performance includes masked singers, spectres, ghosts, and conjured nightmares from Lucia di Lammermoor, Die Fledermaus and Fiddler on the Roof. On March 6, students weave traditional opera arias together to create their own new story and an original piece of interdisciplinary theatre, and the May 3 performance features the new version of the original show Opera in a Box: Follow Your Dreams, written and directed by Hank Hammett and performed by the singing actors in The Dallas Opera/SMU Emerging Artists Program.
Fridays at 1:00 p.m.
September 19, October 31, December 5, 2008, March 6, April 3, May 1, 2009.
