Meadows Symphony Orchestra - Earth
September 19, 2008
, 2008
The Meadows Symphony opens a new season dedicated to the elements with three works dedicated to Mother Earth. The concert will begin with Copland’s tender and lyrical Appalachain Spring. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 “Pastoral” evokes the composer’s love of the outdoors and walks in the country, complete with a passing storm, while a modern work by Argentinian composer Alberto Ginastera, Popol vuh: The Creation of the Mayan World, musically recreates Mayan legends of the origins of the universe.
