, 2008
Waterfest at Willow Grove is just a few weeks away and the City of Lake Dallas is excited about what they have planned for this event September 27th at Willow Grove Park.
Willow Grove Park is on the shores of Lake Lewisville where Waterfest's national Jet Ski racing competition will occur. The SuperCourse Nationals will feature close to 100 male and female novice, amateur, expert, and pro level racers from every corner of the U.S. and even International racers are expected. Supercourse racing is a new form of watercraft racing designed to resemble the fast-paced sport of motorcycle racing. Weighing over 600 and some as much as 900 pounds, a race-ready watercraft is capable of creating over 260 horsepower and speeds in excess of 70 miles per hour.
In addition to the jet ski races, you'll find free kid's activities, live music, and exhibitors including a Marine Max boat display, on the shores at the park. Kid's activities include a petting zoo, pony rides, bounces house, a water slide, scuba diving, and more. Throughout the day there will also be contests for prizes, great food, and booths featuring outdoor recreation, arts and crafts and local businesses/organizations.
Bring your free entry, located on the Waterfest door hangers, to the event for a chance to win a weekend's stay at Willow Grove Park and no camping charges! Door hangers were distributed to homes in June and can also be picked up at Lake Dallas City Hall. A Hard Night's Day, a Beatle's Tribute band who was voted the best cover band in Dallas, will be performing at 5 pm on Saturday. Cover band, Plan B will take the stage at 1 pm on Sunday. Kid's entertainment and other live music will also take place on the main stage throughout the weekend.
Waterfest admission is free and parking at Willow Grove Park is $10 per car. For a complete schedule of events and more information, visit the Web site. For additional questions call 940-497-2226 x132.
