MikeO, there should be a Peg HQ! I was also going to say this event would be good to get some of us taking pics for you and handing out cards. Drum up some more readership for you perhaps.

The questions is: Will mike be manning the booth all weekend, gladhanding all who stop by to say hello??

Mike Orren says:
I'm touched that y'all would be willing to help us out. We are a sponsor, and can have a booth if we want one.
Typically, we've had bad luck with booths: Since our product is digital and it's hard to get reliable power/interwebs and to see screens in outdoor glare. And we've found that our handouts largely became litter. So generally we go for signage and tickets (when relevant).
But, I'll throw this out to your creative minds -- what could we (and our loyal readers) do with a booth that would make the right impact and help people remember us?

(And Chris, I would be there to gladhand, but on a tightly regimented schedule, possibly advertised with a sandwich board.)

So, mike will be gladhanding AND making Sammiches on a board at the same time? Talk about talent! LOL
I kid, I know doing public apperance can be a pain, especially with a website but it can be done :)

Travis Bush says:
Let's see...for one, you could open your booth to some local artists who don't have the money for a booth...I can see it now.."Peg News..Champion of local artists..."
Still the idea about having people taking pictures and handing out cards per your Pegarazi idea can work..not flyers..just a card ya tard! You could also just have a booth set up for taking pics of people in front of a Peg News/Deep Ellum Arts Festival sign.
The other notion I had is a bit rad as the kids say (or at least they did in the Eighties)..but get some different sized canvases..or maybe we could just make some really big ones...or different sizes...then get some paint ball guns...you let people stopping by shoot at the canvases and enter for a chance to win them/sign up for Peg News. I got teh guns!
Finishing touches can be applied to make them look like something other than war game fatality. I would be willing to volunteer for said duty along with at least one other artist buddy of mine.

That sounds like fun! Hopefully it wouldn’t devolve into an all out war zone.
This may be far more work than you are looking for but what about doing something a little different than just a booth. The same way they do the poetry slams in a random parking lot, Peg should host a game show or something along the lines of Have I Got News For You – Dallas Edition. You could have your content partners playing against each other or something.

Ha! We have at least twenty paintings that were done this week, just for the show. Plus, we will be doing some larger paintings together during the weekend. We just stretched a bunch of canvases over old print screen blocks...some have a Dallas event on the back from a million years ago.

Miko, if you need volunteers for...whatever you're conniving, I'll set aside a block of time. Simply can't be near 5 on Friday since I won't be able to make it downtown quick from work - otherwise, lemme know.
I promise to behave, even!

I too would be happy to volunteer in whatever capacity needed. And I suppose if Doyle can commit to behaving, then so can we all.
Also, very much looking forward to AT’s concept for the performance art piece involving Travis and the dumpster. If there is anything I can do to assist with that effort, I am all in!

Mike Orren says:
Hey y'all: The master plan referenced above kinda fizzled for a few reasons, time being the chief one. I'll save it for another event. (Basically involved us acting as swag/meet n' greet tent for bands while conducting video interviews of bands in a van parked behind the tent.)
We are going to have peoplerazzi out at the event shooting photos.
As far as y'alls generous offers to help pimp us out -- I'd really like to take you up on that at an event TBA in May or June when I've got more time to plan. Can't believe you'd be willing to do that-- frankly makes me a little verklempt to think that anyone would be willing to take the time...
So, I'll also share with you that there is another contributing factor to our holding off on a big full-court press this weekend. We've got some new stuff up our sleeves that we'll be rolling out in the next 60 days or so. I don't want to overhype, but I believe it'll be cool and will take us to the proverbial "next level." At the very least, it'll help new users more quickly glean what's special here. So I'm going to call in that favor once we get that done.

We had folks out there at different times but with multiple events to cover this weekend, we couldn't handle full coverage. (I warned above that we weren't going to do the booth.)
Compounding this was our discovery on Thursday afternoon that our banner(s) got lost during the move.
But I know that TGub at least was out there and I know we're going to have some Peoplerazzi galleries up later today...
