The Sounds of Louis Kahn’s Architecture

Architect and musician Christopher Janney will present a free lecture titled “The Sounds of Louis Kahn’s Architecture.”

Reflecting on his particular journey, Janney will illustrate how renowned architect Louis I. Kahn, among others, was an early and powerful influence in revealing the “hidden music” in architecture.

Janney has been awarded the Gyorgy Kepes Prize from MIT, “Sound Designer of the Year” by LDI/Theater Arts Magazine, and the Edison Award from General Electric for innovation in design. His work has been profiled on CBS Sunday Morning and in Architectural Record and the New York Times.

Janney developed his own multimedia studio, PhenomenArts, Inc., in 1980 and has been a visiting professor at both The Cooper Union School of Architecture and Pratt Institute School of Architecture. He is currently working on an installation at the Fort Worth Convention Center, along with projects in Phoenix; Abu Dhabi, UAE; Leeds, England; and Zaragoza, Spain.
