My .02 review of the evening:
Matthew and the Arrogant Sea (MATAS) pretty much ruined it for a number of reasons. Or rather, booking pretty much ruined the evening. You can't blame it all on MATAS because diffrent strokes, etc.
Maybe best way to put it would be that if this evening were a three course meal, that meal consisted of a wonderful appetizer for the first course (Kate Maki), a second course of cat poop (MATAS), and an awesome dessert for the third (Great Lake Swimmers). It was a bit hard to fully appreciate the first course because you dreaded having to eat the cat poop, and it was impossible to fully enjoy the dessert because you couldn't get the taste of cat poop out of your mouth.
