Top Rope Climbing Anchors Workshop

This workshop is designed for beginning or indoor climbers wanting to move to outdoor setting. The content is directed at recreational climbers focusing mostly on bolted (artificial anchors) top-rope sites, common in the surrounding area. Natural anchor construction will be covered and practiced but not concentrated. An Approved Climber Card (ACC) from the SMU Climbing Center or demonstrated equivalent is REQUIRED. The Friday evening session will be a combination of lecture, demo and hands-on content. Content will include equipment recognition, use and maintenance; knots; safety and skill proficiency. Each participant will be required to complete a basic skills proficiency prior to participating in the Saturday session. Saturday will take place at Mineral Wells State Park (transport provided). Climbers will learn the basics of rock site management and artificial/natural anchor construction. Lunch and entrance/climbing fees will be included in course cost. Attending this workshop does not qualify individuals to lead or guide outdoor rock climbing experiences nor does it result in any certification. It is only intended for personal, recreation purposes
